Parking Rules
Parking rules are in place to ensure parked or stopped vehicles do not affect traffic flow or local access. Council’s parking compliance activities focus on keeping our streets safe, accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Information on safety and rules on NSW roads can be found at Transport for NSW and the NSW Government’s parking rules webpage.

Parking Fine Reporting
In accordance with the Fines Amendment (Parking Fines) Act 2024 and the Fines Amendment (Parking Fines) Regulation 2025, Balranald Shire Council is required to report on parking fines issued throughout each financial year.
Background on Legislative Changes
The NSW Government’s reforms to the parking fine system, which came into effect on 1 July 2025, require councils to:
- Attach a parking fine or notification to the vehicle (except in limited circumstances).
- Provide photographic evidence of the offence to Revenue NSW.
- Issue fines within seven days of the offence if no notification was attached.
- Publicly report data on parking fines issued.
These changes aim to restore fairness and transparency to the parking fine system across NSW.
Balranald Shire Council will continue to monitor the implementation of these reforms and provide quarterly updates as required.
