Yanga Update 20.01.26

Please be aware that the Blue-Green Algal alert status for Yanga Lake has risen to RED. This is based on satellite imagery and testing of the water will take place in the coming weeks to confirm what strain of algae is causing the bloom in the lake.

Regatta Beach Picnic Area, is still open but contact with the water should be avoided.

Algae may be toxic to humans and animals. Contact with or use of water from red alert areas should be avoided due to the risk of eye and skin irritation. Drinking untreated or boiled water from these supplies can cause stomach upsets. Alternative water supplies should be sought or activated carbon treatment employed to remove toxins. People should not fish when an algal scum is present.
